FOR NURSES AND MEDICAL ASSISTANTS

Move into remote care with confidence.

Remote patient monitoring (RPM) and chronic care management (CCM) are growing fast, and most nurses haven’t been trained for them. Start with a free 15-minute presentation. Train live when you’re ready.

Sign-up opens on the site of Paula’s business partner, Vesna Medical Staffing. Paula benefits from this partnership.

Free presentation every Wednesday and Sunday at 4 pm Eastern, online.

What remote care work really is

In RPM, patients use connected devices at home, such as blood pressure cuffs, scales or glucose meters. Their readings reach a care team that reviews them and follows up when something needs attention. In CCM, patients with two or more chronic conditions get a care plan, regular check-ins and coordination between visits.

It’s still nursing: assessment by phone, patient teaching and good judgment, just from a desk.

A typical day can include

  • Reviewing new readings and flagging anything outside the patient’s set range
  • Calling patients to check in and coaching them on their plan
  • Following the program’s protocol when a reading needs attention, including letting the provider know
  • Documenting every contact
  • Helping patients with device problems so their readings keep coming in

There’s a place for LPNs and medical assistants

LPNs

Many RPM and CCM roles hire LPNs. Paula is an LPN, and she did all of it as one. In many programs, LPNs may review readings, check in with patients by phone, help patients follow their care plan, and document calls and pass concerns along per protocol.

Medical assistants

Medical assistants often help with patient enrollment, device set-up and troubleshooting, and scheduling.

Before you apply, check

  • Your state’s scope of practice for your license or role, because it varies
  • Which states the employer needs you licensed in. See which states are in the Nurse Licensure Compact
  • How much clinical experience the role asks for
  • The software: many programs use an EHR plus a monitoring platform

What each role may do depends on state requirements, professional scope of practice, supervision and employer policies.

Your path in

1. Start free

A free 15-minute online presentation, every Wednesday and Sunday at 4 pm Eastern. You’ll hear what RPM, CCM and other remote nurses do day to day, what remote roles typically look like and how to find them, how bedside skills transfer to virtual care, what employers look for, and what training helps.

2. Train live

Intro to Remote Care is a live online class with three sessions. It covers RPM and CCM from enrollment and devices to documentation, care coordination, escalation and monthly workflows. No previous RPM or CCM experience is required, and recordings are available to paying participants.

3. Put it to work

Training helps you become familiar with the terminology, workflows, technology and documentation involved, so you can talk about remote care with employers. It is training, not job placement, and enrollment doesn’t guarantee employment.

What the training covers

Three live sessions, one a week.

Is the presentation really free?

Yes. It is a free 15-minute online presentation, every Wednesday and Sunday at 4 pm Eastern.
